Importing an .IIF File to QuickBooks

Autosoft -

If your non-franchise dealership is using the QuickBooks integration with Autosoft DMS's Sales and F&I application, you can easily upload .iif files generated by Autosoft to create vehicle sales journal entries in QuickBooks.

To upload an .iif file, follow these steps:

Step 1. While in QuickBooks Desktop Pro, click the File option on the top of the screen.

Step 2. Select Utilities from the File menu.

Step 3. Click Import

Step 4. Select IIF Files from the Import menu.

Step 5. In the Import selection pop-up, navigate to the folder where your .iif files are stored as noted in the Transaction Reports generated at the time of the .iif files' creation, and select the .iif file you wish to import to QuickBooks. The naming convention for the .iif files is "QuickBooksFileExport" followed by the date of its creation and a sequence number.

Step 6. Click Open

Step 7. A message confirms that the file has been imported. Click OK to acknowledge the message.

Note:  Once you've imported an .iif file to QuickBooks, it remains in the QuickBooks folder on your hard drive. To avoid resubmitting a deal, once you've successfully imported the .iif file to QuickBooks, you may want to do one of three things: delete the .iif file from your hard drive, make note of the files you've imported to QuickBooks, or change the file's name to indicate it's been imported to QuickBooks.
