Flagging Favorites

Autosoft -

If you visit a page within the system or an outside Website repeatedly and want a quick way to get to those pages or sites with a single click from any page or application within the system, you can use the Favorites feature within the Autosoft system to flag those items and easily access them for future visits. Favorited items are noted with a small blue star in the upper-left corner of the page, matching the large blue Favorites star icon in the upper-right corner of the main navigation frame.

Any favorites you flag in the ways noted below are linked to your Autosoft user account, not to the Web browser you're using. Therefore, no matter what workstation or browser you use to log in to the Autosoft system, your favorites will be there.

Adding Internal Favorites

There are two ways you can add internal favorites to the system.

Method 1

Step 1. While on any page in any system application, click the Star icon in the upper-left corner of the page.

Step 2. The star will turn blue, indicating that the favorite has been added. You can now click the Favorites icon in the upper-right corner of the main navigation frame while on any page in the system to view your favorites list and click on a favorite item to open it.

Method 2

Step 1. Click the large Favorites icon in the upper-right corner of the main navigation frame while on a page you'd like to flag as a favorite.

Note:  You can flag a page as a favorite even if you're not on that particular page using this method. You will simply have to copy the page's URL to paste into the URL field of the New Internal Favorites pop-up and type a name for the favorite item.

Step 2. A menu will open containing the Quick Actions, Internal Favorites, and External Favorites headings and any favorites that have been added to each category. The list will only display up to five of each category of favorites. To add the current page as a favorite, click the blue + button to the right of the Internal Favorites heading.

Step 3. The New Internal Favorite pop-up will open. The Name and URL fields will auto-populate with the page's name and particular URL, respectively. Use the Add Favorite To toggle to determine if the new favorite item will be added to the top or bottom of the list. This is important because as the list grows to more than 10 total favorites, internal and external, the items on the bottom of the list (past the fifth favorite item) will not appear in the Favorites drop-down that opens when you click the Favorites star icon on the main navigation frame. Therefore, if your list of internal favorites is greater than five items and you want to be able to access this item with a single click on the Favorites icon, you'll need to add it to the top of the list. That will require you to click the Add Favorites To toggle to move the toggle from Bottom (default) to Top

Step 4. Click Save and Close. You will now find the favorite item when you click the Favorites icon on the main navigation frame.

Adding External Favorites

If you visit an external Website repeatedly throughout your workday, you can add it to the system's External Favorites list so it's easily accessible to you from any workstation with just a couple of clicks.

Step 1. Click the large Favorites icon in the upper-right corner of the main navigation frame.

Tip:  If the URL for the Website you want to add to your External Favorites list is long and complicated, you may want to open another browser tab and open that Website. This way, you can copy the URL and paste it into the New External Favorite pop-up to ensure the URL is correct.

Step 2. A menu will open containing the Quick ActionsInternal Favorites, and External Favorites headings and any favorites that have been added to each category. The list will only display up to five of each category of favorites. Click the blue + button to the right of the External Favorites heading.

Step 3. The New External Favorite pop-up will open. In the Name field, type a name for the site. In the URL field, type the Website's URL or copy it from another browser tab and paste it into the field. The Add Favorite To toggle defaults to Bottom, which means the new external favorite will be added to the bottom of the list. If you have more than 10 total favorites, internal and external, the favorites you add at the bottom of the list won't be visible unless you click the External Favorites header to open the full list. If you want the favorite to be accessible from the top of the list when you click the Favorites icon, click the toggle to select Top

Step 4. Click Save and Close. You will now find the favorite item when you click the Favorites icon on the main navigation frame.
