Editing a Deal's Taxes and Fees

Taxes and fees for a deal are automatically calculated based on the information you entered during system setup. However, you can edit an individual deal's taxes and fees on the Desking page of the deal. 

Taxes

The taxes applied to a deal are based on the state you select from the State options menu in the left column of the Desking page. You can view and edit the details for the deal’s taxes on the Taxes and Fees pop-up. The tax on any taxable items added to the deal will also display on this pop-up. 

Step 1. Open a deal.

Step 2. Click the Desking button below the Deal Summary Card. The Desking page of the deal will open. 

Step 3. Click the Taxes pop-up button in the center column of the page. The Taxes and Fees pop-up will open to the Taxes screen.

Note:  You can also open this pop-up by clicking the Fees pop-up button and then clicking the Taxes and Fees toggle at the top of the pop-up that opens to switch to the Taxes screen. 

Step 4. The toggle at the top of the screen defaults to the Taxes option, and the Tax Rates and Financed Taxes cards will be displayed. The pop-up fields will vary based on the deal type. The Tax Rates card will display the various tax rates for the state selected when creating the deal. 

The Tax Rates card will display the various tax rates for the state selected when creating the deal. Here you can adjust the Rate, Alt (alternate) Rate, and Trade Credit Rate if necessary. At the bottom of the card, use the Additional Tax field to enter the dollar amount of any additional taxes and click the Additional Tax in Payment toggle to select Yes if you want the additional tax to be included in the monthly payment. 

Step 5. In the Financed Taxes card, which is read-only, you can view and verify the taxes applied to the vehicle and any taxable options that you're including in the monthly payments and any Inception Taxes.

Step 6. If you want to view and adjust fees, click Fees in the toggle at the top of the screen (See the Fees section below). To save your changes and close the pop-up, click Save and Close.

Fees

You can view and edit deal fees on the Fees screen of the Taxes and Fees pop-up. The fees applied to a deal are based on the state you selected on the Desking page of the deal. Therefore, the fees will vary by deal state and deal type. 

Step 1. Open a deal.

Step 2. Click the Desking button below the Deal Summary Card. The Desking page of the deal will open. 

Step 3. Click the Fees pop-up button in the center column of the page. The Taxes and Fees pop-up will open to the Fees screen.

Note:  You can also open this pop-up by clicking the Taxes pop-up button and then clicking the Taxes and Fees toggle at the top of the pop-up that opens to switch to the Fees screen. 

Step 4. The Fees screen is comprised of a Local Fees card and a Licensing Fees card. The Local Fees card displays the default state-based fees. You can edit a fee by clicking in the Amount field for the fee and typing a new fee amount. The Payment toggle signifies if the fee is included in the monthly payment. If the background of the toggle is blue, it is included in the payment. The Tax column/s will display which taxes are applied to the fee. If a checkmark appears in a tax column for a fee, it will be taxed. If an X appears in the column, the fee is not taxed. You can edit the fee taxes by clicking the boxes in the Tax column/s to switch from checkmarks to X and vice versa. The Total Local Fees at the bottom of the card displays the total of all the fees in the card.

Step 5. The Licensing Fees card lists all the fees for licensing the vehicle, as well as fields to document the license details. If you haven't established defaults for these fields or need to make changes, click into the field you want to change and type a new figure. The Total Licensing Fees figure at the bottom of the card tallies the licensing fees. You can use the Payment toggle to select to include the fees in the monthly payments. If the background of the toggle is blue, the fees will be included in the payments. 

Enter the license number for the vehicle in the Plate Issued field. Enter the permit number in the Permit Number 1 field. If a second permit is issued, enter that permit number in the Permit Number 2 field, along with the date of Permit Number 2.

Step 6. If you want to view and adjust taxes, click Taxes in the toggle at the top of the screen (See the Taxes section above). To save your changes and close the pop-up, click Save and Close.
