Adding a Driver's License to a Customer Record

Adding a customer's driver's license can easily be accomplished through the FLEX Mobile app for smartphones. From here, you can use the driver's license capture to either start a new customer record or to simply add the driver's license information to an existing customer record. Adding a New Customer Using the Driver's License Scan

Step 1. Log in to the mobile app using your Web-based Autosoft DMS username, password, and company ID.

Note:  To use the mobile app, the user must have access turned on in the Autosoft Sales and F&I permissions. 

Step 2. Tap the menu icon in the upper right corner of the screen to open the app menu.

Step 3. Select Customers from the menu.

Step 4. The Customer screen will open. Type the customer’s name into the Search field and tap Search.

Step 5. If the customer isn’t in the list, tap the blue plus symbol in the bottom right of the screen.

Step 6. You will be given the option to create a New Customer or New Organization. Tap New Customer.

Step 7. The New Customer screen opens. Tap the Scan License field or camera icon.

Step 8. The camera will open. Align the front of the customer's driver's license in the box labeled "Front," and tap the white circle on the screen to take the photo.

Step 9. The frame will disappear for a few seconds and reappear, reading, “Back.” Align the back side of the license in the frame and click the white circle to take the photo.

Important:  If the barcode on the back of the license is damaged or the license is older, the visual barcode reader may not be able to decode the data from the card.

Step 10. The system will decode the license data and populate the fields. This may take a few seconds. To view the images you've taken of the license, tap the View License field on the New Customer screen. To return to the New Customer screen, tap Edit Customer in the upper-right corner of the screen. 

Step 11. To save the new customer, click Save. The customer will appear in your Customer list. You can click on the customer and edit their record as needed.

Adding a Driver's License for an Existing Customer

Step 1. Log in to the mobile app using your Web-based Autosoft DMS username, password, and company ID.

Note:  To use the mobile app, the user must have access turned on in FLEX F&I permissions. 

Step 2. Tap the menu icon in the upper right corner of the screen to open the app menu.

Step 3. Select Customers from the menu.

Step 4. The Customer screen will open. Type the customer’s name into the Search field and tap Search.

Step 5. Tap on the customer for whom you wish to add a license.

Step 6. The Customer Detail screen will open with the customer's basic information. To add the driver's license, tap Edit in the upper-right corner of the screen.

Step 7. Tap the Scan License field. 

Step 8. The camera will open. Align the front of the customer's driver's license in the box labeled "Front," and tap the white circle on the screen to take the photo.

Step 9. The frame will disappear for a few seconds and reappear, reading, “Back.” Align the back side of the license in the frame and click the white circle to take the photo.

Step 10. If the customer's driver's license data hadn't already been entered into their record, the information will populate the screen. Click Save in the upper-right corner of the screen to save the information and images to the customer's record.
